Der Hölle Rache kocht in meinem Herzen which translates to "Hell's vengeance boils in my heart". It is commonly abbreviated "Der Hölle Rache", is an aria sung by the Queen of the Night, a coloratura soprano part, in the second act of Mozart's opera The Magic Flute (Die Zauberflöte). It depicts a fit of vengeful rage in which the Queen of the Night gives her daughter Pamina a knife, and tries to persuade her to assassinate Sarastro, the Queen's rival, but if she refuses, then she will be disowned and cursed!

The words for the aria were written by Emanuel Schikaneder, who also authored the rest of the Magic Flute libretto. He also headed the theatre troupe that premiered the work and created the role of Papageno.

For this Trombone transcription, we have put the solo part down the octave, but it’s still high even then. Because of this, we’ve renamed it as “The King of the morning” which would translate to “Der König des morgens”.
